A Flamenco Show in Tablao El Arenal

Tablao El Arenal takes its name from the neighborhood in Seville between the Cathedral and the Guadalquivir river. The central location, just a few blocks away from the Maestranza bullring, features a typical 17th century Andalusian building, renovated to offer full dinner, tapas dinner and bar service. With space for 110 guests, Tablao El Arenal has two nightly performances of approximately and hour and a half in length.

Founded over 25 years ago, several of the regular artists have won national and international dance awards, while the establishment was once designated as the best flamenco show in Seville by the New York Times. The artists and performances cover a variety of flamenco styles. The decoration and atmosphere in the main dining room is pure Andalusian, and as a smaller venue Tablao El Arenal offers a good view from any of the seats.

Our first introduction to Flamenco was in El Arenal in 1993, as part of a student group cultural excursion. Not knowing what to expect, it only took a few minutes into the show to draw me in to the rhythms, dancing and guitar. The show in El Arenal proved to be a great starting point and soon had us searching for other shows and venues in Seville.
