Arahal: Memoria Niña de los Peines “Al Gurugú”

Arahal is a small town in the province of Seville with a rich history and tradition of flamenco.  The festival, which was founded in 2002, is dedicated to Pastora Pavón “La Niña de los Peines”.  She is considered one the best flamenco singers in the world and is nationally and internationally renowned.   “La Niña de los Peines” came from a gypsy family and never forgot her deep Andalusian roots no matter where she performed.  Her talent and legacy was so strong that her singing was officially registered with the regional Ministry of Culture as a protected cultural heritage. It is in her honor that the festival often attracts nationally and internationally known artists such as Gerardo Nuñez, Carmen Linares. Estrella Morente, Arcángel, Israel Galván, Rocío Molina, and more.
